Really surprised that both Christmas 2012 and New Year 2012/2013 has already been booked! Lots of availability for March, April May June and July though!

Christmas 2012!

Really surprised and pleased that next Christmas has been booked already !
Anyone want New Year whilst we think on?

Met the Doughtys!

Lovely to meet the Doughty Family after spending their third Christmas in the lodge! At least this year they didnt get snowed in, or worse, leave some presents behind in the wardrobe!
lovely to meet their beautiful 16 year old doggie too.
Happy New Year to the Doughtys and the Allan family who are there now with their lovely doggie Belle!

Merry Christmas!

A really Merry and Happy Christmas to everyone who has rented and who will rent the lodge.
A special “Thank You” to Sharon, Mark, Craig and Andy, for all their help and expertise over the last few years and years to come! You are an Amazing Team!

Last Jaunt

Just spent a couple of nights in Limefitt. Left early due to snow and more heavy (6″) on the way today. Don’t think I have ever packed and cleaned (solo) quicker! White out blizzard on M6 and same on A66. Followed snow plough on latter.
Miraculously the weather changed 5 miles south of Scotch Corner.brilliant sun in York now. Still didn’t want to risk a disaster!
Badgers visited each night and bird feeder was filled and emptied both days! left it full this morning.
Didnt even get my winter jasmine planted! Pip managed to eat the leaves and two flowers on the way. She didnt seem to come to any harm thankfully!
Anyhow, now to apply myself to christmas shopping and general preparations.

Next Cumbrian jaunt!

Not sure whether I am ok about going without John.at least the dogs for company!

Marjorie Lloyd

May I suggest that anyone who loves the Lake District as I do,and may be want to cultivate the same appreciation in their children, should look out for the “Fell Farm” books. In the original Puffin first published in 1951 and reprinted many times until 1975.They are about the five Brownes, two sets of twins and Sally, who spent thier long school hollidays in the Lake District. They always stay on the same farm “Fell Farm”
I bought copies for my daughters when they were young and have just repurchased the second hand books from Amazon.co.uk.
As a youngster, I loved these stories and recognised the names of the fells and villages.
I feel the books are too good to be lost in the ether and suggest fellow Lake Lovers find them selves a copy.
I am sure there are still good quality books out there, they just need a little searching for!
Happy reading chaps!
