The beautiful summer months inspire beautiful poetry:-
Butterflies like velvet remnants bounce
On and off the purple fangs of the buddleia.
Blackberries plump up and slowly puff by puff
Flies squat on them buzzing blackly
Of an electric life that burns through nature
Shivering the hocks of the bay pony,
Swishing the rasp of his catchy tail.
His soft black nostrils
Skimming over the water,
Sucking and blowing over the bucket.
All afternoon the combine harvesters
Rumble and drone,
Filling the air with dry, gold, dust.
Cutting the shine off the corn fields,
Brushing the pile back and forth,
Racing before the harvest moon.
Until she rises, late, apricot hot,
A giant pearl unhooked from the sea,
Rolling above indigo hedges
And the stars behind her,
Like a necklace thrown
Over the back of a sleeping woman.

Autumn is considered by many to be one of the most colourful seasons.
If you fancy seeing the beautiful lakes in one of the most colourful seasons of the year,
with the trees gently changing colour, why not book yourself a break? The weather
less predictable, but, you will find sights just as beautiful! Such as a pair of deer
grazing behind the lodge, If you are very lucky,or a family of badgers eating behind the lodge!
The trees, as autumn unfolds become more beautiful as the days pass and the shorter evenings draw in. The curls of smoke from the Haybarn chimney promising a warm friendly welcome.
Autumn has so much to recommend it!
I must admit, that the autumnal months are our personal favourite time to be in the lake district!
The cheeky squirrels bravely rob the bird feeder and then bury their “spoils”
