Welcome to Dickens Lodge Blog
Welcome to my blog about the joys (and some sorrows) of owning a lodge on Limefitt Park in the heart of the beautiful Cumbrian Lake District
one more sleep
one more sleep before our maintenance weekend.
I so need a weekend away just now, shame its only three days!
power
sorry for all at Limfitt last night power cut til 9am. I knew it was a good idea to have lots of lovely pretty solar lights!
Dear Owner
Just to keep you informed a high voltage power line came down in the Troutbeck Valley last night leaving 148 properties without power.
The electric went off at 8:00pm last night and power was restored by United Utilities at 8:45am this morning.
The United Utilities reference number is 60216066.
Kind Regards
Limefitt Reception

Butterfly numbers are in rapid decline, so in partnership with the Butterfly Conservation we’d like to ask for your help in the Big Butterfly Count. Simply spend just 15 minutes outside, counting butterflies between 24th July and 1st August. Butterflies are not only a beautiful part of our landscape, they’re also an important sign of …how healthy your environment it is. Log your sightings and provide vital information to help support the future of our wonderful butterflies.

Badger Family
My brother and family were lucky enough to see five badgers yesterday evening and a deer all behind the lodge!
How jammy is that?
next weekend!
looking forward to our next “maintenance” weekend aat the lodge. Not sure whether we will have time to put up new lights but we will see!
Bryan!
My Brothers children have named the big male badger Bryan! They were lucky enough to see a deer behind the lodge yesterday!
Sadly
Last Friday saw the sad event of laying to rest a good friend, colleague and regular visitor to the lodge.
Will miss you enormously Paul, rest in peace.
God Bless your lovely wife and family. We hope to welcome them back when the time is right for them.
Clean!
A big thank you to the last guests, received this from Sharon
“…..how lovely to have your lodge kept so clean, it was a pleasure to clean today”
Our next guests (family members) have arrived safely despite a text stating
” just arrived ,vast amounts of rain. Standing water everywhere. All is well with the lodge, the last guests have left a very complimentary entry in the book”
So my plants will be getting a well needed drink!
Shopping trip!
Well we went shopping for a new shower for home ……and bought a complete set of lights for the lodge! Right place right time B and Q!
4am!
Up and breakfasted for a 6am train to Oxford. 3 hours 40 minutes later arrive for a 5 hour infection control meeting and then another 3 and a half hours back.
Gonna be a very long day.
